If you've recently welcomed a bunny into your home, you might have noticed some curious nibbles and chews during those first few weeks. While it’s totally natural for babies to explore their world with their mouths, it can leave you wondering how to curb those little nibbles that might feel a bit too sharp! Whether it’s your bunny testing boundaries or just being playful, it’s important to gently guide them back on track. Here are some top tips to help you navigate those early bunny-biting moments and encourage more positive behavior.

1. Gentle Nose Boop & Correction – Lightly tap their nose and redirect their behavior.

2. Verbal Correction – Let out a high-pitched "ouch!" to mimic how rabbits communicate pain, discouraging future bites.

3. Ignore Them – Rabbits crave attention! Sometimes, the best consequence is to withdraw it.

4. The Hug Reset – Pick your bunny up, hold them against your chest (all four paws touching you), and give a firm but gentle hug to shift their focus.

5. Establish Dominance – Place your palm gently but firmly on their forehead. This mimics natural rabbit hierarchy and reinforces you as the leader.

6. Change the Activity – If nibbling persists, they might be signaling discomfort. Adjust what you’re doing to see if it helps.

7. Check for Boredom – Provide plenty of chew toys and enrichment to keep their mind stimulated.

8. Hunger Cues – Rabbits grow quickly and need proper nutrition. If nibbling is frequent, try increasing hay and pellet portions to see if hunger is a factor.

Bunny nibbles are all part of the learning process for your little one, and with the right strategies, you can help them understand what’s acceptable behavior. Remember, patience is key; your bunny is still figuring out the world around them, and positive reinforcement is the best way to guide them. By incorporating these techniques into your routine, you’ll soon be enjoying a well-behaved, happy bunny who’s not only exploring with their mouth but also learning the rules of their new home!
